Well, isn't it about time! I missed this announcement today because of work, BUT now that I finally watched the Bunkamura Hamlet 2019 teaser, I have to put it here! It's a short teaser and thus a very short post for now. But I will populate this post with more teasers as we march closer to May. Well, okay, it's still 5 months or so away, but tomorrow is February already, so you know... time flies!

Meanwhile, enjoy Okada Masaki as the charming but troublesome Hamlet!

RED  has been re-airing ‘Lightning Tree/Raiou’ these days. I’ve re-watched it several times and remembered how this movie first captured my attention to Okada Masaki (and subsequent almost sleepless nights afterwards to watch his other dramas). I have made a post about the movie  here , and in fact, I received my first comment on that post today! Yay! The poster of 'Raiou' I have to tell you this: I miss Masaki-kun so much. ‘Taira no Kiyomori’ finished last December, and I cannot tell you how I miss his Minamoto no Yoritomo. I haven’t found Masaki’s other English-subbed projects, so I’m down to re-watching his past projects (The Golden Piggy/Ogon no Buta, Holy Monsters/Seinaru Kaibutsutachi, Otomen and Young Black Jack are on top list). I also downloaded many Masaki-related OSTs, or if I cannot do that for techy reasons, I have been streaming the OSTs over and over again. The 2019 Bracken Moor impressions

Update 1 Sept 2019: Since Bracken Moor has wrapped up successfully in Osaka today (1 September 2019), I can release the spoilers now.  Scroll down to the end for the spoilers. The real-life "Bracken Moor" posters outside Theatre Creation on 15 August 2019 Below are my impressions after watching "Bracken Moor" twice in Tokyo during Okada Masaki's birthday. It does not spoil the end per se, but I will update the post with the most important spoilers after the Osaka show ends on 1 September. Oh, and Happy Birthday, Masaki! Stay happy and healthy, and thank you for the light within you! If “Hamlet” swept my feet away with its burning passion, “Bracken Moor” is a slowly burning amber that eventually warms my heart in the middle of an emotional winter. If “Hamlet” is about revenge, “Bracken Moor” is about healing. I think that’s my conclusion after watching two Bracken Moor (BM henceforth) shows on Okada Masaki’s birthday yesterday (15 August 2019). ...

Taira no Kiyomori!

I am currently watching the first episode of Taira no Kiyomori , NHK's 2012 Taiga drama. I am so excited! The cast is superb, many of whom I've seen in Japanese dramas, delivering great performances. I am a bit bias here: the first drive for me to watch it is to hear Okada Masaki's lovely voice narrating the drama as Minamoto no Yoritomo. But when I saw the trailers etc, I realise the drama's potentials. I just hope that I can discipline myself and watch it just one episode per day. That is, hopefully my online links are not broken. This drama is still airing in Japan anyway, so fan-based attempts to sub it might be seen as breaching the copyright. Which is SO not the intention of those hard working fans who have been subbing this drama! Click here for the first episode of Taira no Kiyomori (English sub, of course).
